The human skeleton consists of more than

Bones : They are the hardest tissues

in the body, but the inside parts

of the bones are soft

العظام :هي اصلب نسيج في الجسد

لكن داخل العظام يكون رقيق

. They are filled with a fatty substance

called marrow

مملوء بمادة دهنية تدعى النخاع(مخ العظام)

The skull :There are 22 bones in the skull

الجمجمة : توجد 22 عظمة في الجمجمة

Eight of these protect the brain and do not

move. The other 14 are in the face

ثمانية منها لحماية الدماغ وغير متحركة

The spine :It consists of 26 bones called

vertebrae. The vertebrae are separated

from each other by small disks

العمود الفقري : يتألف من 26 عظمة تدعى الفقرات

وهي منفصلة عن بعضها بواسطة اقراص صغيرة

There is a hole in the middle of each

vertebra through which the spinal

cord runs

يوجد ثقب وسط كل فقرة من خلاله يمتد الحبل الشوكي

The spinal cord: This is the main nerve

in the body. It carries messages from

the brain, mainly to do with movement

الحبل الشوكي : هو العصب الرئيس في الجسم

يحمل الرسائل من المخ والتي تتعامل مع حركة الجسم

For example, if the spinal cord is

damaged in the neck, a person is

paralysed; he is not able to move his

arms or legs because both are

below the area of damage

مثال عندما يتحطم الحبل الشوكي في الرقبة

الشخص يصاب بالشلل فلا يستطيع ان يحرك ذراعية

او رجليه لان كلاهما يقع تحت منطقة التحطيم

( لا توصل اليهما الرسائل )

Joints: There are 230 joints in the body

المفاصل : يوجد 230 مفصل في الجسم

They link bones together and allow the

skeleton to keep its shape and,

يصل العظام مع بعض وللحفاظ على شكل الهيكل العظمي

in some cases, to move

There are two kinds of joint. A hinge joint

allows only backward and forward

movement as in the knee, elbow or fingers

للحركة هناك نوعان من المفاصل

كما في الركبة والمرفق والاصابع

Aball and socket joint allows a circular

movement as in the shoulder or hips

The rib cage: There are 12 pairs of ribs

in the rib cage. They protect the heart

and lungs and they move as we breathe

The foot: This is one of the most complicated

structures in the body. It has to cope with
