Dear prospective applicant:
Thank you for contacting the Baghdad Info Center at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) regarding the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP). This message confirms we have received your email.
Baghdad Info Center is currently receiving a very high volume of emails. Your message will be answered in the order it was received.
Please note that the current expected wait time for a reply to your message is 10 weeks. Please do not re-send your message. We truly appreciate your patience.
Due to limitations on the USRAP processing capacity in Baghdad , an application received by the Baghdad Info Center today will take a significantly longer period of time to process than it would in neighboring countries. If you feel that you are in danger and need to depart Iraq immediately, or if you would simply like to be interviewed more quickly, please inform Baghdad Info Center that you would like to be processed in a neighboring country and we will take steps to try to facilitate your access to the program in another location. If you indicate an interest in being processed from a neighboring country, you will be contacted within 14 days from receipt of your request.
You may also wish to consider applying to the Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) Program. This program is available to those Iraqis who have been employed by, or on behalf of the United States Government in Iraq , on or after March 20, 2003, for a period of not less than one year. SIV recipients become legal permanent residents and receive a “green card” upon entry to the U.S. , unlike refugee applicants who must be in the U.S. for one year before becoming eligible for legal permanent resident status. Like refugees, SIV beneficiaries are eligible for transportation loans and resettlement benefits in the United States . For more information on this program, please visit.
