عنكاوا كوم – خاص دعا المطران اثناسيوس توما داؤد "الاخوة المسلمين" للوقوف الى جانب المسيحيين وجميع الاقليات في العراق والحفاظ على النفوس والمقدسات والممتلكات فيما ناشد الحكومة العراقية ان "تصحو" وتتحمل مسؤولياتها وتهتم لمصلحة العراقيين كافة والاقليات على وجه الخصوص ومن ضمنهم المسيحييون.
جاء ذلك في "تصريح" صدر عن قداسة المطران، الخميس 11 تشرين الثاني الجاري ردا على ما تناولته بعض المواقع الاخبارية بخصوص دعوته المسيحيين العراقيين الى مغادرة البلد والهجرة بعد الهجوم الارهابي على كنيسة سيدة النجاة في بغداد.

تصريح للمطران أثناسيوس توما داؤد عقب ما تناولته الصحف والفضائيات العالمية
ردعاً للتفاسير الخاطئة عن موقفي بخصوص المجزرة التي حدثت في كنيسة سيدة النجاة في وطني العراق العزيز, أصدر البيان التالي:
إن أحداث العراق المؤلمة مع ازدياد العنف في الآونة الأخيرة والتي طالت العراقيين عامةً وشعبنا المسيحي خاصةً , جاءت نتيجة تهديدات القاعدة التي تبيَّن بأنه ليس هناك حتى الآن من يردعها عن اقتراف أبشع أنواع القتل والإبادة المنظمة . ومن المؤسف أن دماء الأبرياء سالت ليس فقط في كنيسة سيدة النجاة ,بل في شوارع بغداد والموصل وغيرهما من مدن العراق .
إن يد العنف قد طالت أيضاً أشقاءنا في الوطن المسلمين ودمرت العديد من بيوت الصلاة وأماكن العبادة. هذا كله يؤكد أن الإرهاب لا دين له، ويدعونا للثبات معاً في وطننا الغالي العراق، نعمل معاً لحماية الأوراح والمقدسات وعيش مواطنيتنا المشتركة.
لذا أجد من واجبي كأحد المسؤولين الروحيين في الكنيسة السريانية الأرثوذكسية حثَّ أصحاب الضمائر الحيَّة في هذا العالم المضطرب , ولاسيما إخوتنا المسلمين الذين يؤمنون بالله وباليوم الأخير, والذين نعيش معهم على أرض واحدة وتحت سماء واحدة , وبيننا روابط تاريخية مشتركة , ليقفوا مع المسيحيين وجميع الأقليات في العراق يحافظون على النفوس والمقدسات والممتلكات.
وأود أن أذكّر بخطاب قداسة الحبر الأعظم بطريركنا المعظم مار اغناطيوس زكا الأول عيواص، بطريرك انطاكية وسائر المشرق للسريان الأرثوذكس، بأننا نؤكد رفضنا لأي رأي، أو محرض، أو مشجع يدفع بأبناء الكنيسة المقدسة للهجرة من العراق، ونقف بثبات ضد أي مخطط لتفريغ العراق من مسيحييه. وكما عاش آباؤنا معاً على أرض العراق الحبيب ، هكذا ينبغي أن يعيش العراقيون معاً اليوم وغداً. وهذا هو رجاؤنا بالله وبجميع العراقيين الأخيار .
وبناءً عليه فإنني أناشد حكومة العراق أن تصحو لتقوم بمهامها وتهتم بمصلحة العراقيين كافةً ولاسيما بمصلحة الأقليات وضمنهم المسيحيين, الذين هم جزء هام من تاريخ العراق الغني والمتنوع . وأناشد الأمم المتدة والمؤسسات الدولية أن تقدم الدعم اللازم لوطننا الحبيب.
نسأل الله تعالى أن يصون العراقيين كافة من شرِّ الإرهابيين وأعوانهم . ويأخذ بيد الصالحين لينهضوا بالعراق من كبوته إلى مستقبل زاهر ومشرق .
ليتفقد الله شهداء العراق عامة وشهداء كنيسة سيدة النجاة خاصةً برحمته الواسعة ويسكنهم ملكوت السموات, ويسكب نعمة الصبر والسلوان وبلسم العزاء على قلوب أهلهم ، ويمنح الشفاء العاجل لجميع الجرحى . ولتكن مشيئة الله كما في السماء كذلك على الأرض .

After the massacre of the Church of Our Lady of Salvation
To clarify any inaccurate interpretation of my position concerning the massacre which happened at Our Lady of Salvation church in my beloved country, Iraq, I issue the following statement:
In view of the recent rise of violence targeting the Iraqi people in general, and especially its Christian minority, we can no longer ignore the fact that the threats issued by al-Qaeda are both systematically prejudice and unacceptable. It is painful to see the blood of the innocent shed not only in the church of Our Lady of Salvation, but also in the streets of Baghdad, Mosel, and other towns. Extremists and militant Islamist groups have also targeted our Muslim sisters and brothers and their places of worship. This proves that Terrorism has no religion, and beckons us to stand united in our beloved homeland in order to preserve lives, sanctuaries, and the practice of our common citizenship.
As one of the spiritual leaders in the Syriac Orthodox Church, it is my duty to urge those of good conscience in this troubled world, and especially our Muslim sisters and brothers in Iraq, with whom we share the same land and the belief in the One God and the last day, to stand together with their Christian co-citizens in the face of gross injustice.
Recalling the words of our Patriarch His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas, we reject any opinion or attempt that encourages the members of the Church to immigrate from Iraq, and we stand firm against emptying Iraq of its Christian population. Our forefathers inhabited this land together for centuries, and as a Church we believe that all Iraqis should continue to live together today and for the generations to come.
I am therefore calling upon the Iraqi government to take its full responsibility in protecting all Iraqi citizens, especially the minority groups, including Christians, and calling on the international community to support our beloved country in this troubled time.
We pray to God Almighty to grant peace and mercy to all Iraqi martyrs and especially the martyrs at Our Lady of Salvation church. We send our condolences and deepest sympathies to the families of the victims and to our sisterly Syriac Catholic Church, and wish the injured people a speedy recovery.
May God Almighty protect all Iraqis and strengthen the righteous to lift up Iraq to a position of tranquility and prosperity for a bright future.
