That’s the way things were still done in those days. The young Patriarch acquiesced for the sake of his people,”

Re, St. Peter’s Bones.

Dear Mr. Timmerman,

Assyrians of Justice regrets to inform you that after reviewing your book entitled St. Peter's Bones we came across some misrepresentations of our Holy Assyrian Martyr Patriarch Mar Shimun XXI Benyamin. Within your book there is a passage where you defame the image of our Holy Assyrian Martyr Patriarch Mar Shimun XXI Benyamin by alluding to a proposed marriage and the offering of one of his daughters to his rival. This misinformation is blasphemy and strongly goes against the church and the Assyrian Nation. It is a fact that his Holiness was neither Married nor had and Children, and his Holiness fully dedicated his life to the church and the Assyrian Nation.  In St. Peter's Bones you are alluding to the fact that Patriarch Mar Shimun XXI Benyamin may have had illegitimate daughters which goes against everything he stood for. Not only is it an insult to his memory but it is also an insult to the church and deeply offends our organization, as well as all Assyrians around the world. We strongly recommend that you release a letter correcting your misrepresentation of our Assyrian Martyr his Holiness Patriarch Mar Shimun XXI Benyamin and apologizing to our churches, as well as our Assyrian Nation who has preserved the image of our Patriarch in such high regards. We will be expecting your letter to be released As soon as possible.
