Being an indigenous Assyrian from Mesopotamia with a history of 6762 years and strongly believes that there is a connection between the Assyrian people from Mesopotamia and Maori people from Aotearoa. Maori people called Brown Assyrian “refer to (Maori Symbolism) book by Ettie A. Rout: “The Holy Land, the land where Mankind (Maori) was created, was Assyria (Ihiria), the land of Western Asia. When this land became over-populated different sections of mankind migrated in different directions; the white Maori went to north, the black Maori to south, the yellow Maori to east, and the brown (New Zealand) Maori to the west…..etc.”. Thus, I had great interest in connecting architecture and engineering forms of knowledge with indigenous knowledge, where indigenous knowledge has contributed hugely in building the civilisation that man-kind is enjoying it today. From here, we “Indigenous” would like to contribute again in sustaining and protecting what mankind has gained in order to prevent any damages or destruction to the planet.
Throughout my master degree study, I experienced a great support from many people that I would like to thank them;
First of all, I would like to thank my supervisor, Te Kepa Brian Morgan, for his great efforts, support and encouragement throughout the project period. Kepa has the ability; to provide student with guidance and advice they needed to develop their own research and to make himself available when advice needed.
I would like to thank and pray for the soul of my father “Shlemoon Dinkha” who passed away years ago due careless of unmerciful doctors of the last regime in a country called ours for thousands of years. My father was always there for me and for anyone was in need. He supported me with everything possible to achieve my goals, I still miss him so much, you are always in my heart, rest in peace.
I also would like to thank my beloved mother “Mariam Qashow” for her everlasting support and prayers that she was and still the main guidance for me since my childhood.
Finally, I would like to thank my lovely wife Linda Dinkha, and my kids Esho, Mariam, Michal and Emanuela for their support and love they provided me throughout my study. They are the reason behind my success in current and future degrees and researches.
