Recognition and forced changing from Chaldean-Aramaic Language to the Syriac language by Iraqi government in 1972

In the early 1970s, the Iraqi Government tried to change the suppression of Christians in Iraq through different laws that were passed. On 20 February 1972, the government passed the law to recognize the cultural rights of Christians by changing Chaldean language to Syriac and allowing Syriac be taught in schools which the majority of students spoke that language in addition to Arabic also to be taught at intermediate and secondary schools in which the majority of students spoke that language in addition to Arabic, but it never happened. Special programs were to be broadcast on public radio and television and three Syriac-language magazines were planned to be published in the capital, an Association of Syriac-Speaking Authors and Writers had also been established.
The bill turned out to be a failure. The radio stations created as the result of this decree were closed after a few months. While the two magazines were allowed to be published, only ten percent of their material was in Syriac, Schools were not allowed to call this language Chaldean-Aramaic.

His beatitude Pauls Sheikho the Patriarch of Babylon for the Chaldean Catholic Church objected to such law but received threats from Iraqi Government, the  majority of Christians in Iraq are Chaldeans and speak Chaldean-Aramaic language.

The Greek invaded Syria and Babylon and called Aramaic Language Syriac refereeing to People of Syria,
also late Jacob Manna Chaldean bishop published Chaldean – Arabic Dictionary in 1867-1928 and reprinted in 1975 by DR Raphael Bidawid the Chaldean Patriarch of Babylon, on his introduction page 17, Syrians in general were never called by this name but they were called Aramean, Syriac name came to us though Jesus disciples from Israel and Syria the truth is our language is Chaldean Aramaic language.
