A survivor child from the hell of the battles of Mosul and her brother
A five- year old girl was hugging her younger brother in a remote desert region., even though she was too young, she tried to contain her little brother with both her hands ... Whenever we tried to get close to her, She threw stones and everything around her towards us . She was tired and the dirt was covering her face. She was too small that we could not leave her alone. Really , we were astonished , what brought her to this deserted piece of land !!!! We surrounded her from every side as if she was an angel descended from the heavens, asking our Lord to bless us for her sake ?! We waited her to calm down , but she continue to throw stones towards us when we stepped forward, with her little brother sleeping in her so small lap !!! We did not know what to do? Even though her stones did not hurt us, but I understood that if we approached more , she would feel that she lost her life and lost everything !!!! We waited till no more stones around her. ... We are in a dirty fierce war and all we have is our guns and the disgusting smell of gunpowder?! We do not have a doll or anything that might calm down this small child's horror ..
This situation, which I will never forget ,caused many of our colleagues to cry of grieve and sadness . I noticed that the more I came closer to her, the more she clung to her brother as if to protect him. I was very close to her. She put her small hand in front of her face and said, "please uncle , Do not kill me." I will not kill you, but I am here to take you home" I said with my eyes full of tears . ... I sat before her cross – legged , while , all were waiting what would happen next , a situation that happens along the whole life time just once …. "Where is your family? Where's your dad and your mum? I asked ."(DAISH killed them )" . She said ….I imagined her walking in the middle of this ruins and destruction with her little brother .. With my fingers I drew on the sand before her features of a doll . she looked at the drawing, I asked her "Do you like the doll?" She smiled and said ( Yes, uncle ). I asked her to come with me so that I could get her a doll. She looked deeply in my eyes , and I saw in her eyes thousands of questions , while I was waiting her decision. , Yes, gentlemen , I was waiting for her decision , because no one has seen what she saw. She stood up , held her brother's hand helping him to stand up, flicked the sand of her cloths as if she was flicking the concern out of my inners. She touched my hand and walked with me saying " Please , uncle ! my brother is hungry ". " don't worry , I replied " ….. I hold her and her brother and walked thinking about what is happening in my country!!
