عطور الصبا في "سناط" ( اسنخ) : ترجمة الكتاب الى الإنجليزية
صدر كتابي قبل 24 سنة في دار النشر الفرنسية في باريس. طلب عدد من اهلي ومن السناطيين واصدقائهم ترجمته الى اللغة الانكليزية. قمت بمراجعته واضافة عليه فصلول عديدة، فصدرت الترجمة في الآونة الاخيرة.
عام 1976كنتُ طالبا في فرنسا بجامعة نيس الواقعة على البحر الأبيض المتوسط، وعلمت من عدة مصادر بان الحكومة العراقية قامت بتدمير وبدكّ وبإخلاء قرية سناط من سكانها وتهجير جميع اهلها المسالمين والاوفياء لبلدهم بطريقة ظالمة.
قررتُ للحال ان أكون وفيا لقريتي وسكانها الذين شرّدهم التعسف الغاشم. ووعدت ان تبقى سناط خالدة في ذاكرة أهلها ومحبيها رغم كوارث الزمن.
وهكذا صممت القيام بتأليف كتاب عن عاداتها وتقاليدها وعن عشائرها وخصوصياتها من الناحية الاجتماعية والدينية واللغوية. وصفت حماس وفرحة السكان بمناسبة الأعياد الدينية متل عيد الميلاد وعيد القيامة. وتكلمت عن افراح السناطيين بمناسب عيدها الرسمي شيرا الواقع في 15 اب.
حاولت ان أقدم الكتاب للقارء الغربي بأسلوب سردي لكي يجد متعة في القراءة. ا " الراوي هو صبي " من سناط يتكلم عن افراحه واحزانه ويتطلع الى منظر القرية الجبلية المستقرة على سفح جبل شاهق.
تجري الاحداث في وسط الخمسينات من القرن العشرين. يروي ويسرد الصبي حوادث القتل التي أدت بحياة عدد من افراد القرية بطريقة ظالمة، ولا ينسى الجرائم التي طالت على بعض نساء القرية. ثم يختم المؤلف كتابه بالدعاء الى القوى الخارقة ان تحفظ القرية من الشر والماسي. اقدم للقارء الترجمة الإنكليزية مع الامل ان تنال رضاكم .

He confides to us his joys and sorrows; his wonders before nature, his childhood dreams.
Ephrem-Isa Yousif was born in Northern Mesopotamia. As a doctor of philosophy, he taught in a French university. He has written and published many books about Mesopotamia and Syriac culture, and lectures in many countries.

The author presents two ancient Syriac chronicles to us and invites us to an exiting journey to our eastern origins. They relate us the beginnings of Christianity in High Mesopotamia, in Adiabene and in Osrhoene, with their capitals Edessa and Arbela (Erbil). Ephrem-Isa YOUSIF was born in Sanate, a village in northern Iraq. He is the author of several books on Mesopotamia and the Syriac culture. Graduated of the French university, he obtained two doctorates in Philosophy and Civilisations. He taught philosophy at Toulouse. Today, he gives lectures and conferences in various regions. He has published books like The flowering of Syriac philosophers, Syriac chroniclers, the glorious figures of Mesopotamia, Mesopotamian Christians.
