DHS expects the suspension to continue at least through Spring 2015. This is likely to delay a number of pending cases.
Refugees who have been referred by UNHCR to the U.S. resettlement program but who have not yet been interviewed by ICMC will be able to arrange an appointment, but their cases will otherwise remain on hold until DHS interviewing resumes.
Refugees who were already interviewed by ICMC but who have not yet been interviewed by DHS will have to wait until the suspension is lifted to move forward with their application.
In addition to the new suspension in Lebanon, refugee interviews continue to be suspended in both Iraq and Syria. Refugee protection will remain severely hindered throughout the region until refugee processing resumes.
