Dear Teery
You took me back more than 40 years!!!!
Well, I was a student at the University of Mosul- College of Agriculture & Forestry in Hammam Al-Alil, Mosul. During this period I remember very well that we had a very active "Assyrian Students organization which had a religious cover called "Nadwat Al-Eman". We used to meet once a week on Friday's in a church in Dawassa called "Umm Al-Ma3ona". Also, I would like to refer to our mentor and adviser during this period which was the late Dr. Yousif Habbi (RIP), a great mentor, philosopher and true spiritual leader. One of the Ankawa. Com reader is my brother Nabil Damman was also with us and he still uses Ankawa.com site. He can add more memories about this era and time of
. our life at the university of Mosul.
Also, we were very active in pursuing the establishment of "Assyrian Cultural Club- Nineveh Branch". There were many people if I can re-call including the late Akhsheresh Youash who was in the college of Engineering who has a brother-in-law who was very active in this regard. As well as , there were many others including Enwiya Odisho who was in the College of Engineering- Dept. of Architecture, Dr. Odisho B. Khoshaba (currently and M.D. in Chicago"..as well as, Dr. Farid Neesan an M.D. in the Military Hospital in Mosul and the list is long .. but to make the story short, YES, indeed we as active students at the university of Mosul, we did apply to the "Assyrian Cultural Club/ HQ-Baghdad" to give us the permission to be another branch in Nineveh,. but we were faced by stiff rejection by the Iraqi Estikhbarat and ".. I was told that few names that I mentioned were also called to "Modeyereyat Al-Amn Al-3mm" for checking about the objectives for establishing the club..
Well, great fond memories from my days of youth and beautiful Umm Al-Rabe2yan- Tho mother of TWO springs..
